Seeking a Data Analyst / Product Owner to join a leading Mining Group, in their Data & Analytics team, which is based in the Perth CBD. This is a 12 month contract with the option extend.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Lead and collaborate with a delivery team of data engineers, data scientists, visualisation engineers and business stakeholders to develop out the Data Platform Roadmap
  • Report on the progress of the delivery team to management
  • Manage stakeholders’ expectations and assist with team prioritisation
  • Lead and/or participate in Agile Scrum or waterfall project environments
  • Accurately identify and document required data, information flows, business context and operational requirements (e.g., latency, quality issues, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business stakeholders
  • Lead, co-ordinate and facilitate workshops to elicit user stories (business requirements) and align with technical capabilities
  • Translate user stories (business requirements) with the engineering teams to produce platform capabilities
  • Create and facilitate the development of current and future business process documentation for Analytics Teams to utilise platform capabilities for their data products
  • Perform system and functional testing as required
  • Identify and recommend new ways to streamline business reporting and associated processes




  • Expertise in Data and Business Analysis
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Platforms or Data warehousing concepts. Including ETL processes, integration of systems via APIs and other data feeds.
  • Basic understanding of SQL
  • Basic understanding of AWS Cloud
  • Exposure working in DataOps, Agile, Scrum, Continuous Delivery and/or Rapid Application Development environments
  • Strong leadership and team facilitation skills
  • Ability to think at varying levels, from conceptual to detailed
  • Ability to communicate the value to higher management of technical concepts e.g. (DataOps)
  • Well versed in the creation of Epics, Features and User Stories
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • User centered or Design thinking skills to approach facilitation and design
  • Strong leadership and team facilitation skills
