Lead Electrical Engineer

Boulder, Colorado

Permanent/Full Time

Salary Range - $100,000 - $135,000, depending on level of experience

We’re hiring an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our client’s growing team. This is a full-time permanent role, which is responsible for designing electronic systems and modules for new analytical instrumentation products and providing sustaining support for existing products.


  • Create component and assembly CAD files, specify materials, and establish acceptable performance criteria andstandards
  • Create and execute test plans to qualify components, verify performance, and document results
  • Address component obsolescence issues working with cross functional teams
  • Troubleshoot and bring up PCBAs using sound engineering principles
  • Manage electrical projects through design, test, and implementation phases and share technical knowledge with the group
  • Manage design activities through design reviews, prototyping, and communicating schedule, milestones, and status to project teams
  • Lead the development of electrical specifications for product development
  • Work independently to identify problems and formulate solutions
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders and follow Configuration Management release processes




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar
  • 7+ years’ experience in Product Design – development and test of electronic assemblies
  • 7+ years’ experience with analog design
  • Proficient in both analog and digital design
  • Hands-on lab experience with PCB bring up and troubleshooting
  • Experience with component selection and qualification
  • Effective communication across the organization. Interacts and collaborates with technical colleagues and cross functional groups
  • Altium Designer
  • Experience integrating embedded system processors and low-level firmware used on PCBs
  • Familiar with circuit simulation and modeling tools such as PSPICE and MATLAB
  • Familiar with CPLD/FPGA programming
  • Experience designing for EMI/ESD protection
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacture and assembly process including DFT and DFM
  • Experience with vendor management/qualification
